These are the features of a right sided stroke possibly within the internal capsule . 4. The pars reticulata and the internal globus pallidus are separated by the internal capsule . 5. The primary motor cortex sends its axons through the posterior limb of the internal capsule . 6. It can occur from damage to the thalamocortical fibers in the posterior limb of the internal capsule . 7. Tertiary neuronal axons then travel to the primary sensory cortex via the posterior limb of the internal capsule . 8. However decorticate rigidity can be caused by bleeding in the internal capsule which causes damage to upper motor neurons. 9. From there, tertiary neurons ascend via the posterior limb of the internal capsule and end in the primary sensory cortex. 10. The pallidus is near the optic tract and the internal capsule , a part of the brain that controls motor movements.
